Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report initial examinations show the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior political figure commented the attack rendered him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
